Overview of the action is given in the following figure. The key project inputs are recent findings of the fellow and collaborators on magnetic and mechanical hysteresis which enable the novel functionality. Pursuing the project objectives will bring these outputs: explained causes of enlarged magnetic hysteresis, explained physical mechanisms behind the novel functionality, new MSMAs with the novel functionality better exposed, and demo applications of the novel functionality. The project will impact fields of magnetism, materials science, physics of martensite, and practical applications and commercialization of MSMAs.
